Rimmel Apocalips Review

Lipstick and me don't generally get on.  I don't have the fullest lips which I think counts against me.  I generally end up with it either left on one lip, looking like I've just got lipliner on or, worst of all, smudged up my face!   I know these have been around a while and I have been using them for sometime now so I thought I would do a short review.

These are my two favourite colours.  Apocaliptic (top one) and Big Bang (bottom one).

Apocaliptic on the left, Big Bang on the right

Top one  - Apocalips in Big Bang
Bottom one - Apocaliptic

These have a very creamy texture and a high gloss finish.  They do have good lasting power, even on me!  The problem I find is that where they are quite thick in texture, it is so easy to smudge.  I have found that the best way to apply these is to blot them slightly by kissing the back of your hand.  That, or apply a thin layer.  This way, I find that they stain your lips more and this I think makes it longer lasting.  Less is definitely more where this product is concerned.  But if you are lucky and have fuller lips than I do, you may find they last really well on you.  My friend was wearing it last night and it lasted so well on her and that was without any blotting.  I think she actually just applied it while we were standing at the bar without a mirror!

There is quite a good colour range available and they aren't ridiculously priced.  I think they are about £6.49 in Boots.  Out of all the lipsticks I own, these are definitely up there as one of my favourites.  I love the texture, even if you do end up leaving your lip prints all over glasses, and they do last well.  They don't have much of a taste to them either which I think is a good thing and they just have a very lipsticky smell to them (if that makes sense!).

Big Bang is a very true red colour and I think very wearable on almost any skin tone.  My other favourite is Apocaliptic which is a bright fuchsia pink.  It definitely looks different on the lips than to the swatch I've done.

So, all in all, I would definitely recommend the Apocalips range by Rimmel.  Just blot it down a bit after applying :-)

Leopard print outfit of the day #OOTD #WIWT #Topshop #RiverIsland

Today, I have a friend coming over which will hopefully keep my little monkey happy for a couple of hours!  He wanted to have his picture taken as well today so there are a few of us together.

So nothing particularly special about today's outfit.  Topshop Leigh jeans that I got in the sale for £20, along with my beloved River Island cut out boots which were £40 in the sale and a very, very, very old over-size top from New Look.  Well I don't think it's supposed to be oversized, but I bought it about 3 sizes too big and it's still one of my favourites.  Oh and blazer is from New Look (£34.99).

What's happened to this weather?  It was so lovely yesterday, now we're back to boring, miserable rain!  Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to x

Spring is here!!!

Well for today anyway.  It actually looks and feels a lot like spring out there today.  It's so beautiful, yet I'm wearing black and white!  I feel like I'm letting the weather down slightly with this outfit!

Primark leather jacket (old)
Primark black and white skull scarf (old)
H&M cropped t-shirt - £9.99
Primark black highwaisted skinny jeans - £10.00
Converse - £27 (Schuh's kids range)

I may go and sit in the garden this afternoon if my boys sleep at the same time.  My 19 month old has decided he's too grown up for afternoon naps, but this is a battle that I'm desperate to win!!!  My youngest isn't even 4 months yet so perhaps I'll wrap him up and sit outside with him.  And if you needed some proof that spring is definitely in the air, there are little flowers popping up on the trees!  I got a bit snap-happy doing these!

What a beautiful start to the week.  This weather is enough to brighten anyone's Monday.  I'm sure it won't last, but for today, I'm going to enjoy it!  This skin of mine needs some sun!  It's had more than enough fake tan through this winter! x

Sunday's Outfit of the Day: Jumper Dress #Primark #DressLink #RiverIsland #OOTD #WIWT

I bought this dress/tunic earlier this week with the intention of only wearing it as a jumper (tucked in) but I actually really like it as a dress.  I love the colour and the material is perfect.

Denim Jacket - £13.31
Primark tartan scarf - £4.00
Primark Jumper/Dress - £6.00
River Island chunky zip boots - £40.00

The best thing about this jumper/dress is that it was only £6!!!  You've just gotta love Primark for a bargain!

Hope you're all having a fab weekend.  I'm looking forward to my husband cooking me a nice roast today!  But first, to do some housework :-( xxx

Hope you are all having a lovely start to the weekend.  It's lovely and sunny here and not too cold!  Well compared to recently that is x

Grey Friday #OOTD #WIWT

This morning, my mum took my 19 month old down to Hastings with my dad, which left my youngest and me going into town to catch up with a friend.  We went to Costa an I had a red berry ice drink (in this weather) but as my little boy is only 3.5 months old, he had to settle for milk.  Now we are home and enjoying some peace and quiet!  There wasn't much planning involved with this outfit as I was in a rush to meet my friend.  10am is too early to be up, ready and out when you have children!

Primark jumper - £6.00
River Island grey leopard print jeans (old)
Primark leather biker jacket (old)

Yesterday, I picked up this top from Primark for £6.  I really love the colour.  Grey is my favourite colour to wear and it was such a bargain  It's actually quite long and I just have it tucked in.  I think I may actually be able to wear this as a dress so watch this space!

Hope you are all looking forward to the weekend.  I'm looking forward to catching up on some sleep zzzzzzzz xxx

Thursday's Outfit of the Day: The Boyfriend Blazer (and ever shrinking dress!) #Topshop #OOTD #WIWT #NewLook

This dress is from Topshop.  I did originally wish they did it in their petite range (which they now do) as it was slightly too long on me being only 5ft 2.  Well I'm glad they didn't.  I washed it on a 40 degree wash and it is now the perfect length!  So that saves my mum a job!  Must remember to be careful when washing again though otherwise it won't be a dress anymore!

Missguided fur collar (old)
Primark hat - £2.00

I am loving this blazer from New Look.  It's amazing.  It goes with so much and I can definitely see me getting a lot of wear out of it.

Hope you all have a great day.  I may pop into town later but with this weather being so rubbish, I may not! x

Oh and thanks to my mum and niece for taking the pictures :-) x

Wednesday's Outfit of the Day: The White Shirt #OOTD #WIWT

The kids are on half term this week so I got my 11 year old niece to take these pictures for me, which made it so much easier!  Plus it kept her busy for 5 minutes and she loves a camera that one!

River Island jacket - £35.00 (old) (similar-ish here)
Dress Link shirt - £5.21
River Island black coated trousers - £25.00 (similar here)

How I style my hair - youtube

Today, I filmed a quick video on how I style my hair.  I'm no expert but if you're interested, check it out here x

Tuesday's Outfit of the Day: The cutest shoes I've ever seen! #Topshop #OOTD #WIWT

I popped to Bluewater yesterday and wanted to look at the skater shoes in Topshop.  Tried them on and they looked bloody awful on me.  Tried another pair on in H&M just to confirm that they don't suit me and almost cut the back of my foot in the process!  Needless to say, I didn't come home with any.  BUT... I did come home with these babies!

Oh I am in love!  They are just too cute!! When I tried them on, my husband did give me a funny look when I told him that I was buying them so maybe they are a love hate thing!

So on to today's outfit, here it is:

Zara vest top - £5.99 (sale)

While I was out, I also picked up this jacket from New Look.  I've been eyeing up a similar one on Missguided's website but it's about £60 which I didn't really want to pay.  This was £34.99 and I love it.  I have the one that everyone seems to own from Primark, the herringbone one, but it's just too dark for my liking so I'm going to stick that on ebay (probably on the weekend).

So that's today's outfit.  Hope y'all are having a Terrific Tuesday! xxx
