Rimmel Apocalips Review

Lipstick and me don't generally get on.  I don't have the fullest lips which I think counts against me.  I generally end up with it either left on one lip, looking like I've just got lipliner on or, worst of all, smudged up my face!   I know these have been around a while and I have been using them for sometime now so I thought I would do a short review.

These are my two favourite colours.  Apocaliptic (top one) and Big Bang (bottom one).

Apocaliptic on the left, Big Bang on the right

Top one  - Apocalips in Big Bang
Bottom one - Apocaliptic

These have a very creamy texture and a high gloss finish.  They do have good lasting power, even on me!  The problem I find is that where they are quite thick in texture, it is so easy to smudge.  I have found that the best way to apply these is to blot them slightly by kissing the back of your hand.  That, or apply a thin layer.  This way, I find that they stain your lips more and this I think makes it longer lasting.  Less is definitely more where this product is concerned.  But if you are lucky and have fuller lips than I do, you may find they last really well on you.  My friend was wearing it last night and it lasted so well on her and that was without any blotting.  I think she actually just applied it while we were standing at the bar without a mirror!

There is quite a good colour range available and they aren't ridiculously priced.  I think they are about £6.49 in Boots.  Out of all the lipsticks I own, these are definitely up there as one of my favourites.  I love the texture, even if you do end up leaving your lip prints all over glasses, and they do last well.  They don't have much of a taste to them either which I think is a good thing and they just have a very lipsticky smell to them (if that makes sense!).

Big Bang is a very true red colour and I think very wearable on almost any skin tone.  My other favourite is Apocaliptic which is a bright fuchsia pink.  It definitely looks different on the lips than to the swatch I've done.

So, all in all, I would definitely recommend the Apocalips range by Rimmel.  Just blot it down a bit after applying :-)
